Ukrainian Easter Eggs: A Modern Twist On Traditional Art
Easter eggs have been a part of Ukrainian culture for centuries, with the earliest known decorated eggs dating back to the 10th century. Known as pysanky, these eggs were created using a wax-resist method, where hot wax was applied to the eggshell in intricate patterns before being dipped in dye. The wax would act as a barrier, allowing the uncovered areas of the egg to absorb the dye, while the waxed areas remained their original color. The result was a beautiful and unique work of art.
